Climb to the ceiling of El Hierro

The northeastern coast of the island forms the setting for this route. A long but not very steep climb starts at the Shrine to the Virgin of Kings. Along the way, the trails are open to one side and have the green of Mencáfete to the other.

We reach Pico de Malpaso after crossing a green forest of laurisilva and juniper trees. Here we come across the highest balcony in El Hierro, at an altitude of 1500 m above sea level. The route ends with a steep descent through lush forests to Frontera.

The second part of the Meridian Marathon coincides with this route.
