Dive points

The crystal-clear waters of El Hierro allow you to dive in beautiful underwater scenery brimming with life. The water clarity and temperature – from 18ºC to 25ºC all year round with visibility of up to 50 metres, the Mar de Las Calmas Marine Reserve, the presence of the trade winds, the short insular shelf – allowing you to reach depths of up to 300 metres just a few miles off the coast, and the dense vegetation covering the rocky sea bed make the island the perfect refuge for a wide variety of species that appeared after the underwater volcanic eruption in 2011. Diving in these paradisiacal waters, you could come across Mediterranean parrotfish, tunas, groupers or barracudas and even, depending on the time of year, dolphins, manta rays, whales or sharks.
